We have lots of new and exciting things to talk about. We are negotiating with the city to acquire a long term lease on the building located at 17 N. Polk (the old police station). In the meantime we have rented an interim office in the Martin Art Gallery, at the United|Gulfland Real Estate Building, 207 E. Magnolia.
Our name has been updated to focus attention on "Promoting & Celebrating the Arts in DeSoto County". Our new logo reflects the hard work and successes over the past 16 years while emphasizing our dreams and excitement for the future.
We are working on a new website that will feature an artist of the month, provide a section for members to sell their works, and keep you informed. We are also working on a new facebook page to keep everyone up to date on what's happening.
There is a comprehensive membership program in the works with new services and interesting events to encourage membership and participation. Check out our new website www.desotoartscenter.org for details. To that end, we want to cultivate a closer relationship with our community.
The Desoto County Fire Department acquired a piece of the girder from the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The DeSoto Arts Center was asked to design a display to present this piece of history to the public. We are working with the Fire Department and Sanchez Machine Shop to complete the project which will be located in a prominent place in our community.
I hope you'll email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or contact us through our new website www.desotoartscenter.org. You'll be hearing more from us soon.
